Easter

THEN GO QUICKLY
AND TELL HIS DISCIPLES
HE HAS RISEN FROM THE DEAD

MATT. 27:7

The week before Easter was loaded with events. On Palm Sunday, Jesus rode into Jerusalem with a large crowd of noisy followers who spread their coats and palm branches in his pathway. They shouted, "Hosanna to the King." Enthusiasm and excitement were running high.

When arriving in Jerusalem, things weren't going quite so well. Folks there weren't agreeing with the festive crowd. Disagreement and bickering were everywhere. On Thursday, Jesus celebrated his last Passover Supper with His Disciples. but the mob was yelling, "Crucify Him". With swift, and unlawful decisions, by Friday He was hanging on a cross. By the end of the day, He was properly buried in a nearby borrowed tomb.

The next day, Saturday, was their Sabbath. Scripture is silent about what happened during that period. The greatest thing in history had taken place the previous day. All the haggling was over. Pilate had made his decision. The high priests were satisfied. Jesus was no longer a problem, they thought. The soldiers had lied. The Disciples had scattered in unbelief. It was all over! WHAT NOW? They didn't have long to wait.

EARLY ON SUNDAY MORNING, Mary, and the women with her, found the stone rolled away from the tomb. It was empty! His body was not there. Many questions! What had happened? Where was He? Who had removed Him? .

THEN an Angel made the greatest proclamation of all time

"HE IS NOT HERE, HE HAS RISEN, AS HE SAID"
